Join us for an in-conversation between Sue Rainsford and Alan Phelan at 6pm Thursday, October 29th, where they'll reflect on a landmark year for the artist. Phelan was selected for the main exhibition at the 61st Venice Biennale, presenting an installation of 18 Joly screen photographs, as well as a series of site-specific works spread across the Arsenale and Central Pavilion of the Giardini. Curated by the late Koyo Kouoh, the exhibition features 111 invited participants from across the globe.
Phelan and Rainsford will discuss everything from a selection process turned on its head by the tragic death of Kouoh - and the curatorial team who honoured her vision - to the mayhem of launch week and the political turmoil that ensued. Expect some entertaining asides too!
Sue Rainsford is an acclaimed novelist and arts writer. Her latest novel, From out my heart, was published in October.
Alan Phelan is an artist whose practice began in photography and has extended into many different media and mediums with a focus on interpretation, language and collaboration.

This event is organised as part of After Hours at the Museum and Dublin by Dusk, initiatives supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.
